If you have not yet watched Neil Gaiman’s commencement speech for the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, you should. Now. I’ve made it easy and embedded it below.
His advice to freelancers: “People get hired because, somehow, they get hired…People KEEP working in a freelance world (and more and more of today’s world is freelance) because their work is good, they’re easy to get along with, and they deliver the work on time. And you don’t even need all three – two out of three will do just fine.”
Best piece of advice he was ever given? To enjoy his successes instead of worrying about what would come next.
“When things are horrible: make. good. art.”
